Welcome! The purpose of this campaign is to raise money, for a 4-acre farm, located in the Dodoma Region, near nyangoro village. The farm is called Umoja Farm (meaning unity farm) and is run by local women, who are both Muslim and Christian. From single mothers, grandmothers, and widowers, this farm provides work and livelihood to women as a means to build and support themselves and their families. We visited the farm 2 months ago as part of our sustainable tourism campaign and were deeply touched by the Umoja Farm project. Most of the women working there are single mothers who are widows and survivors of domestic abuse.

Umoja Farm, originally a dry savannah expanse, was acquired in August 2022 by the a group of women who initiated a collaborative effort with the Lusangazi village chairman in September 2022. They raised funds to purchase a four-acre plot, leading to the establishment of the Umoja Farm.

After purchasing the land, local women worked together to clean it up and create a nursery for different crops. They've been using the land for over a year now, growing various crops for their community.

Since the farm has grown, watering it during the dryer months has become increasingly difficult. Using a bucket and watering cans to collect water from a tap connected to the borehole takes 8 to 11 hours every day to completely water the farm.

Our goal is to raise enough money to install five 10,000-liter tanks which will be connected to 10 taps each, using PVC pipes. The taps will be attached with special irrigation pipes and sprinklers. We will connect a deisel operated water pump which will ensure enough water pressure to water the entire farm in under an hour. This will save time for the women to focus on weeding and maintaining the crops, as well as harvesting and selling produce for their livelihood.
