Help make every community a health-centered community

From James Clark

This financial help will help us to pay students that are working to improve and expand the multimedia publications currently being produced. Additionally, we hope to send them to conferences to present and network.

More Info

Over the last few years, I have been working with group of professionals and undergraduate students that have all volunteered to help on various research projects. One project that we are looking for help with is related to how teachers are teaching students about being healthy.

From our research we have found that that teachers want to teach students how to be healthy, but don’t have the knowledge or resources to do so.  So, we want to help and share our knowledge and provide the information necessary to help teachers build the healthy community they want to be part of.

This work has grown from the publishing of findings in scientific journals into producing multimedia publications.

But the next step is to take our message and idea directly to teachers and the community, where they are.  To do this we need some help.  So far, all of the work that has been done I have paid out of pocket, but this next step is too much to handle, and so I am asking for your help.

This financial help will allow us to hopefully:

·      Be able to pay low-income and underrepresented students for their time to improve and expand the amount of multimedia publications currently being produced by being able to pay one of the student volunteers for their time and effort

·      Send at least 3 low-income and underrepresented undergraduate health-science students to conference to present findings from their research projects on how to integrate healthy ideas into the everyday lessons in the classroom

·      Produce open access educational materials for school employees to have access to that gives pros and cons to the various diets and exercise programs that are marketed

·      Produce open access lesson plans and education materials that are grade-level specific and managed through a free-access website

·      Be able to pay students for their time conduct community outreach programs to help parents and guardians learn how to be proactively healthy within their home to build a healthy community along with the school

Thank you for reading through this and I along with all of the students and professionals I work with thank you for any support you are willing to offer.

As a gesture of this thanks, we will be acknowledging your contribution in our publications.
